EVE's Malaysia factory project consists of two phases. The first phase is the "International Cylindrical Battery Industry Park" project, with an investment of no more than 422.3 million US dollars, located in Julin County, Kedah, Malaysia. Construction officially began on August 7, 2023; The second phase is an energy storage project.
Based on past cooperation and the development of the Malaysian energy market, Eve Energy and Invest Kedah have agreed on a new partnership in energy storage, according to the company. This is Eve Energy's latest effort in Malaysia after its battery plant.
Invest Kedah is the investment promotion arm of the Kedah state government. Officials from the state conducted the signing with Eve Energy executives. Eve Energy plans to set up an energy storage company in Malaysia and acquire a Phase II plot to begin construction of an energy storage plant, according to the statement.
Catering to the worldwide demand of electric vehicles, Samsung SDI Co. Ltd. invested an additional RM7 billion in Malaysia, setting up and operating an EV battery cell manufacturing plant at Samsung SDIEM.
