WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT THERAPY?
If you have never been in therapy, you may wonder what it's all about. There are two aspects of psychotherapy that make it unique. First, therapy is a process in which you will feel, perhaps for the first time in your life, what it is like to have intrinsic worth and dignity. You will be in an environment where you can be fully yourself and not be judged. Second, whatever you disclose in therapy is 100% confidential.
HOW LONG DOES THERAPY TAKE?
This depends on the nature of the issue brought to therapy. Most people benefit from 6 – 12 sessions. Each session lasts about 50 minutes.
WILL MY MEDICAL AID COVER THERAPY?
Most medical aids will cover psychotherapy. Medical aid rates are always charged.
IS THERE A DOWNSIDE TO THERAPY?
It can be daunting to discuss personal issues but once over this initial hurdle, and most people enjoy getting undivided attention from a therapist. It's a huge relief to have someone else work on solving your problems.
